Freelance EPC Assessor Jobs in Your Area

Are you an accredited domestic energy assessor looking for more work? EPC Rating Check sends local EPC jobs to independent assessors across England and Wales. You choose the postcode areas you cover. Then, when a customer near you books, we pass the job to you.

There is no fee to join, no monthly charge and no contract tie-in. Instead, we pay you a fixed fee for each EPC you complete.

How it works

  1. Register your interest. First, fill in the short form below. Tell us your accreditation scheme and the postcode districts you want to cover.
  2. We check your details. Next, we check your accreditation number on the government register. We also ask for copies of your insurance certificates.
  3. We send you jobs. After that, when a customer in your area books an EPC, we send you the address, contact details and property size. You can accept or turn down each job.
  4. You visit and lodge. Then you contact the customer, carry out the assessment and lodge the certificate as normal.
  5. We pay you. Finally, once the certificate shows on the EPC register, we pay you by bank transfer within 7 days.

Why work with us

  • Jobs you did not have to win. We handle the marketing, the enquiry and the booking. So you can spend your time on assessments.
  • Fast payment. We confirm each certificate on the register ourselves. As a result, we can pay quickly without chasing paperwork.
  • Your areas, your choice. You decide where you work and how far you travel. You can also change your areas at any time.
  • No exclusivity. Keep your own customers and work with other firms too.

What we ask of you

  • Current accreditation as a domestic energy assessor with an approved scheme, such as Elmhurst, Quidos, Stroma, ECMK or Sterling.
  • Current professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
  • Contact the customer promptly and visit at the agreed time.
  • Lodge the certificate within 48 hours of the visit.
  • Keep customer details private, and use them only for that job.
  • Customers we send you stay our customers. So please do not offer them other services outside our booking.

We confirm all of this in a short written agreement before your first job.

An honest word on job numbers

We are a young service. Our free EPC rating check tool brings in new customers every week. However, job numbers vary a lot by area, and right now they are modest. We would rather tell you that now than promise work we cannot send. That said, as the site grows, so will the jobs. Assessors who join early will be first in line in their areas.

Register your interest

It takes about two minutes. We will be in touch once we have checked your accreditation.

For example: IG1 to IG11, RM1 to RM10, E4.

We use these details only to review your application and contact you about work. See our privacy policy.

Questions assessors ask

How much do you pay per EPC?

We pay a fixed fee for each completed domestic EPC. We share our rates when we contact you, and we agree them in writing before your first job. So you always know what a job pays before you accept it.

Do I have to pay to join?

No. There is no joining fee, no monthly fee and no charge per lead. You only deal with us when there is a job, and we pay you for it.

Is there a minimum number of jobs I must take?

No. You can accept or turn down each job. However, if you often turn jobs down in an area, we may offer that area to another assessor first.

Do I need to be accredited?

Yes. Only accredited domestic energy assessors can produce and lodge an EPC. If you are still training, you are welcome to register once your accreditation comes through.

Do you offer commercial EPC work?

For now, we only take domestic bookings. Still, tell us on the form if you also do commercial work. That way, we can contact you if this changes.

Which areas do you cover?

We cover England and Wales. Scotland uses a separate EPC register, so we do not take Scottish bookings at present.
